Canillas de Albaida

Our Location

We're located in Canillas de Albaida just 60km outside Málaga, in Andalusía

Our secret to share....

We love our village, it’s as simple as that!  We stumbled upon it and have counted our blessings ever since. This is a Spanish working village, and is definitely not a tourist hotspot, but is renowned as one of the best walking destinations there is. The local community is used to seeing strangers in the village and always make them welcome. It’s also a great place to practice your Spanish!

Congenial Canillas

Other websites talk about how friendly a place is but words don’t do Canillas justice. This is the place where everyone has a friendly ‘hola’ when you pass by.  The restaurants take it in turns to close on different days. The town hall look after the community and promote it through their own website. Fiestas and celebrations take place through the year and are definitely an experience to enjoy.

Food & Wine

The village has 5 restaurants, each a few minutes walk from the house, serving mainly Spanish cuisine. The neighbouring towns and villages provide a wider choice if you wish to venture further. The area is also known for its Muscat grapes, and there are couple of local wineries that are definitely worth a visit.

We are fair weather only

It doesn’t happen often, but when it rains it really rains. The roads are not made to cope with water, and they become more like a skating rink. So whereas in the UK, we’re used to getting wet when riding, we really wouldn’t recommend trying it over here. Should you be unlucky with the weather we can suggest places to visit whilst you aren’t able to ride.
