1 Puerto Del Sol
Topping the list is undoubtably the climb up Puerto Del Sol. From the stunning views over Lake Vinuela to the unbelievably quiet roads, this road bike ride has everything you could want. The full cycling tour details can be found here.
2 Coastal route to Malaga
Just for the simple joy of riding along the coast road, this ride into Malaga to take in the sights and smells of the local architecture and tapas restaurants is unmissable. One must-do on this route is definitely to cycle up to the panoramic viewpoint over the city for a classy shot of your bike on tour.
3 Picturesque loop via Frigliana
A cycling trip to visit the picturesque whitewashed village of Frigiliana will give you everything you need on a ride. Just be prepared to dodge the land train when you get to the village! The climb up from Nerja will give you a good idea of what riding in the foothills of the mountains is like but the main attraction of this ride is actually the loop out of the other side of Frigiliana. This stretch takes in some wonderfully quiet roads with amazing downhill stretches but watch out for the kick up into Torrox at the end!
4 Cerro Gordo
Another coast road ride, this time out away from Malaga and cycle past Nerja up to Cerro Gordo. This trip will give you beautiful views back across the bay to Nerja. Just don’t bank on the café being open at the top of the small climb!
5 The Ruta de Cabra (the goat trail)
This ride is another full day in the saddle. Taking in some of the roads used by the pros, this ride is undoubtedly the most diverse in topography. You could be mistaken for thinking you are at the top of Sa Calobra when at the top of the Cabra. With its rocky outcroppings and switchbacks a photo stop here will give you the most amazing views back down to the coast that you left almost 20 miles beforehand. With a stretch across the high plains of Granada, before dropping back to the coast through the Zafarraya Pass, this is simply unmissable.
